The Backyardigans

Okay, so I was never going to be one of those moms that took her kids to see all the latest TV/Movie characters dressed up in costume.  I personally find them kind of creepy and very, very obnoxious!  And yet . . . here I find myself waiting for over an hour, in a noisy mall, with hundreds of eager children for "the moment" when we get to meet and greet these ever so popular Nick Jr. characters, Pablo, Uniqua and what's the moose's name?  Anyone?  And I think there are one or two more that we apparently too good to come to the Charleston Town Center that day.

When we finally did get up there for our big moment, Johnathan decides he's terrified of them and won't stand near them for a picture by himself.  (I should have predicted this by his fear of the Chick-Fil-A cow, but had hoped he'd outgrown it by now - apparently not!)  So I handed the camera to some lady also on stage and got this picture.  

We met up with some friends at this even.  Here is my friend Traci's daughter Abby.  Unlike my son, she was not terrified of them.  She was in her glory.  There's nothing like pure joy on the face of child!!
