Christmas Eve Dinner at Aunt Jan's

My Dad has a great sister. Her name is Jan. We always make a point of visiting Aunt Jan when we visit Michigan. This time she hosted a dinner on Christmas Eve.

Julia brought over a birthday cake for Baby Jesus :)

One of Aunt Jan's many talents is that she is a terrific knitter. Many of you have seen sweaters on Johnathan and Joshua and have asked me where I got them. They are homemade, knitted stitch by stitch with love from their Great Aunt Jan.

This year for Christmas, Jan added two new sweaters to our collection as well as two new hats.

And as if that wasn't enough Jan also made for both Julia's family and my family a nativity set. They began as a printed fabric and then Jan hand sewed them and weighted them and added her own beads and embellishments to them. What is especially great about these nativity sets is that they can be handled by our little ones without fear of being broken! What a treasure! What a wonderful way to aid us in teaching our children about Christ's birth! Looking forward to pulling out our new nativity from Jan next Christmas (and for many, many Christmas thereafter!) Thanks Jan!

And as if THAT wasn't enough (yes! there's more!) Jan has spent the last two years or so scanning every photo and slide in Grandma Poppen's collection and digitizing them so that we all could have copies. We each received 9 CD's full of photos and memories! Jan, we thank you for your labor of love in doing that for us. It's priceless.

Some more pictures from Jan's house:

Uncle Robert and Mark Robert.

Joshua and Joel - try to ignore Joshua's drool in this one and and notice how in this picture these two really look like cousins!
