Tellus Northwest Georgia Science Museum

Our membership to the Clay Center here in Charleston allows us free admission to hundreds of other museums around the country. In the last year a new museum opened up near my in-laws' cabin, in Cartersville, GA to be exact. We brought Grandma Dys there for her birthday the first time we were at the cabin in July. In August we went back twice that week. It's a great museum. You should check it out if you are ever in that area!

On the grounds at Tellus, shouting "I Love This Museum!"

For kids there are two unique opportunities. 1. to pan for gems and 2. to dig for fossils.

In search of gems . . . .

In search of fossils . . . .

Then there's a cool room called "Science in Motion" with all kinds of antique cars, planes, rockets, aka little boys wonderland.

You can just barely see little Johnathan's face poking out of the astronaut.

Then there's a room full of minerals. Not quite as interesting for the boys, but they did like it more than I thought. They were excited in this picture to have something they could touch.

Then there is a childrens hands-on room. Not sure why I don't have more pictures of this. Oh wait, yeah I do, because I was too busy chasing after them! It was set up as a big Greenhouse and had different stations to explore light, sound, electricity, weather, etc. This was a fun two sided mirror so that when you turned the knob the light would alternate between shining on the side with the dog and then the side you were on. This was the ultimate way for Joshua to play peekaboo!

Last but not least, the dinosaurs. Between visiting here 3 times this summer and the dinosaur theme with our library's summer reading program Johnathan has really gotten into dinosaurs. His favorite is the triceratops. Took this picture just for him.

And everyone's favorite the T-Rex.

Johnathan was pretty scared in this picture!

Reading the signage. Since Johnathan had been here without Daddy the first time, he became a little tour guide for Daddy. Too cute!

A few more pictures.
