So, I'm approaching the atrium of the Atlanta airport, on my way to pass through security. Off the atrium are various restaurants, including a Wendy's. The seating area outside the Wendy's includes a long, elevated countertop with stools for patrons to sit at and eat their meal. Others use it to work on their laptop. As I turned the corner, taking my past this countertop, on the very end sat a familiar face: Mike Rowe from the Discovery Channel's "Dirty Jobs."
He welcomingly shook my hand and entertained any and all questions I may have had for him. I had the distinct impression that he would have sat and shot the breeze with me for a long while, if only I hadn't been playing the part of a star struck doe-doe. I asked if I could take a picture with him to prove my meeting. He said, "Sure, but I'll do you one better." No sooner had he said it, than he pulled out this picture, signed it, "For Jennie and Jeremy, a very dirty pair. Mike Rowe." With a hearty handshake, I bid him adieu and proceeded to my airport cavity search. Once on the other side of the security fence, I remembered 15 questions I had wanted to ask him and pounded my head all the way to Pittsburgh for not actually taking a picture of him AND me! Well, at least I got his autograph!
